On Sunday, September 13, a meeting was held in Niamey, the capital of the Republic of Niger, between a delegation from the Institute of the Russian Language of RUDN University and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Niger, Viktor Sergeyevich Voropayev.
Lyubov Sirazhdinova and Maria Korneeva discussed issues of cooperation between RUDN and RAFU with educational institutions of Niger, and shared information about current projects and upcoming events at the Institute of the Russian Language that are being prepared for October and November 2026.
In particular, during the meeting, information was presented about the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference of RAFU and the Institute of the Russian Language of RUDN University, «The Contribution of Universities of Russia and Africa to the Sustainable Development of Regions: Russian as the Basis of Educational Dialogue» on October 13-14, as well as the Winter School for Teachers of Russian Abroad on November 9-20. It was also possible to report to the Ambassador on the launch by the Institute of the Russian Language of a new online scholarly journal, "Education in Russia and Africa / Russie-Afrique : Revue de l'éducation", the first issue of which is actively in development.
During the meeting, Zakari Moussa Ousmane, a partner of the short-term program "Professional Communication in Russian for Future Medical Professionals", and Professor Abdou Moumouni of the university, as well as representatives of the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities of Niger, discussed with the Ambassador current areas of activity for introducing the Russian language into the programs of higher education institutions, schools, and Russian language centers in Niger.
Ambassador Viktor Sergeyevich Voropayev expressed keen interest in continuing cooperation and the Embassy's readiness to facilitate the development of joint programs between RUDN and educational institutions of Niger.
