Cooperation between SVFU (North-Eastern Federal University) and the University of Kurukanfuga, Mali

At the end of March, a delegation from M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (SVFU), an active member of the RAFU Consortium, visited the Republic of Mali. At a meeting at the State University of Kurukanfuga in Bamako, Mali, a formal presentation of the signed cooperation agreement between SVFUand the State University of Kurukanfuga was held to the SVFUrepresentatives. The ceremony was attended by an invited lecturer from SVFU, Director of the Lestraktif International Association, Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal 'RELEXT,' Doctor of Law Lamine Himbe (Cameroon).

SVFU has a cooperation agreement with the private Ahmed Baba University in Mali and is developing successful collaboration with it. In particular, the Mirny Polytechnic Institute, a branch of SVFU, works with Ahmed Baba University in the field of the oil and gas industry.

Building on this successful experience and the positive attitude of the Rector of the State University of Kurukanfuga in Bamako, Professor Paul Traoré, the lead lecturer of the double-degree program with the Law Faculty of SVFU, Mr. Dembélé, and the administration of the Institute of Political and Legal Sciences at the University of Kurukanfuga in Bamako, after studying all the capabilities of the state university, decided in 2025 to conclude a basic cooperation agreement. Alongside private universities in Mali, SVFU is also interested in successful cooperation with state educational institutions in Mali.

During the ceremonial speech, the Rector of the University of Kurukanfuga, Paul Traoré, expressed interest in network programs, particularly for training bachelors in Mining Law and Environmental Law with the Law Faculty of SVFU. The Rector also showed interest in joining the Siberian-African Consortium under the auspices of SVFU,established in 2023, which includes a number of Siberian universities and SVFU's partners in Africa.

Cooperation with Mali has geopolitical significance and is supported by the Russian Federation. The University of Kurukanfuga and the private Ahmed Baba University are members of the RAFU Consortium. Since the beginning of 2025, by order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the RAFU Consortium has been implementing a number of projects to support the reform of higher education in the Republic of Mali. According to information from various sources, Mali plans to join BRICS soon.
