INRTU has congratulated the winners of the international "Engineers iPolytech" Olympiad. 9 students from African countries earned the opportunity to study English-taught Master’s programs at INRTU within the Russian Government scholarship.
INRTU Rector Mikhail Kornyakov presented the future master’s students with their diplomas. He noted that 54 participants from India, Nigeria, China, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon, and Malawi competed in the Olympiad. 9 African students won 100% tuition discount, 12 others became prize-winners, securing spots on the reserve list.
"Congratulations on your success in the Olympiad! I am confident that studying in the master’s program will allow you to gain knowledge and skills from our leading professors. You will also have the opportunity to participate in competitions and grants to secure funding for your projects," said Mikhail Kornyakov.
Participants completed an online test in English in one of three fields: Management, IT, or Energy Engineering.
The Olympiad was open to fourth-year bachelor’s students, Russian language no-degree progra, and other international applicants seeking admission to INRTU. The winners will be enrolled in the following master’s programs and study free of charge: Renewable Energy, Digital Technologies, Networks & Big Data, MBA: Global Management & Leadership
One of the winners, Bello Muhammad Yakubu from Nigeria, is completing his bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence & Computer Science at INRTU. For his thesis, he developed a program on the practical application of AI. Bello chose a master’s program in digitalization because "artificial intelligence is the future—a field in demand worldwide."
He offered this advice for Africans planning to study in Russia:
"Keep in mind that Russia is cold, but the people here are friendly and always ready to help, even strangers. So if you want to study at a Russian university—go for it!"
Though Bello studied entirely in English, he now speaks fluent Russian, crediting his progress to frequent interactions with locals and travels across Russia, including visits to Kazan, Moscow, and Yekaterinburg.
Anna Melentieva, Head of the International Activities Directorate, added: "Each year, the ‘Engineers iPolytech’ Olympiad strengthens INRTU’s global reputation and contributes to position the university as an attractive center for training tomorrow's leaders in engineering, technology, and management. The Olympiad serves as a bridge, connecting talented international students with the opportunities of Russian education and science."
