On October 3, the professional development program for the delegation from Tanzania concluded at SPbGLTU with a solemn certificate ceremony. The program was prepared and organized by SPbGLTU within the framework of the "Summer Multidisciplinary University" of the "Russian-African Network University" consortium.

The program participants included representatives of the Tanzania Forest Services Agency, the Tanzania Forestry Research Institute, and Sokoine University of Agriculture, as well as students from Tanzania studying at SPbGLTU. They had the opportunity to become acquainted with an overview of Russia's forest resources and forest policy, visit the university's botanical garden, park, and museums, visit the "Lindulovskaya Grove" nature reserve, the Lisino Training and Experimental Forestry Enterprise, and the production complex of LLC "Corporation 'Rus'" in the settlement of Sosnovo, and also walk along the "Komarovsky Shore" ecological trail.

The delegation was led by Revocatus Petro Mushumba, Director General of the Tanzania Forestry Research Institute.

S.V. Tereshchenko, Director of the International Center for Business and Education, welcomed the guests and emphasized that the university looks forward to further development of the strategic partnership.

The program became the conclusion of the project "Russian-Tanzanian Scientific and Educational Expedition," implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund and with information support from the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg.

Representatives of Tanzania gave presentations on the state of the country's forestry sector. Ms. Upendo Maslilwa from the Forestry Institute focused on the role of women in the industry, while Bhoke Masisi from the Forest Services Agency noted the priority of investing in the processing of raw materials within the country. Sokoine University of Agriculture presented an assessment of the current state of forestry education.

The meeting participants expressed mutual interest in developing cooperation in science and education. Discussions covered joint online learning under the guidance of experts from Russia and Tanzania, the organization of mutual internships and exchanges for students and faculty, as well as practical training at Russian and Tanzanian enterprises.

S.V. Tereshchenko invited specialists from Tanzania to participate in an ecotourism conference planned for December 2026 as part of the annual Saint Petersburg International Tourism Forum Travel Hub.

The delegation's visit and the successful completion of the professional development program confirm SPbGLTU's status as a platform for training forestry specialists of international level.
