Representatives of the project office of the Russian-African Network University (RAFU) consortium Maxim Zalyvsky, Head of the RAFU project office, and Alla Mazina, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department, Secretary of the RAFU Presidium, as well as Professor of the Graduate School of Mechanical Engineering of SPbPU Hamouda Khaled, visited the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene and the National Polytechnic School of Algeria.
At the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene, which is a member of the RAFU consortium and a partner of SPbPU since 2023, negotiations on expanding cooperation were held with Vice-Rector for External Relations Shafa Azeddine and heads of nine faculties. With Buzuan Belaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Technologies, and professors of the Faculty of Polytechnics, they discussed the prospect of implementing a joint master's program, “Quality Control”.
Alla Mazina and Maxim Zalyvsky took part in the conference for students and professors of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Technologies, “Russian Education and Study Opportunities in Russia and in SPbPU.”. They spoke about what educational programs Polytechnic offers for foreign applicants and how to enter under the quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education or through the Open Doors International Olympiad and study for free.
At the National Polytechnic School of Algeria, SPbPU representatives discussed the expansion of cooperation with Abdelouab Mehaldi, Director of the School, and Iskander Jouani, his Deputy for Doctoral Training, Research and Technology Development, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Development. After the negotiations, the participants signed a memorandum of affiliation of the National Polytechnic School to RAFU.
The delegation from St. Petersburg also visited modern laboratories and training centers of the National Polytechnic School, which allowed to better understand the current research and identify opportunities for joint work and exchange of experience.
The visit of the RAFU and SPbPU delegation to Algeria became an important stage for further development of scientific and educational relations, contributed to the establishment of a strong dialog between Polytechnic and Algerian educational institutions. It is expected that such initiatives will not only strengthen existing ties, but also create a favorable ground for future joint projects aimed at improving the quality of education and scientific activities.
