A delegation from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Russian Federation visited Kazan Federal University. The delegation included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Hamdi Shaaban Abdelhalim Mohamed, First Secretary Abram Wagdy Latif Gad, and Attaché Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Elsergany. The guests were welcomed by KFU Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Ekaterina Turilova; Olga Vershinina, Director of the KFU Department of External Relations, also took part in the event.

The visit began with a tour of the Museum of the History of Kazan University, where museum head Andrey Afanasyev introduced the guests to the exposition; afterward, a meeting was held with KFU students who are citizens of Egypt. The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation, student and faculty exchanges, and joint scientific research.

Turilova noted that the KFU branch in Cairo is actively developing and that ties with it remain close: this year more than 2,000 people took entrance exams for the branch, and today the final wave — about 100 people — took place. Two representatives of the branch came to Kazan for an internship program in the field of biomedicine. The Vice-Rector emphasized that the university is open to students regardless of citizenship.

The Ambassador thanked the university leadership for organizing the meeting and noted its significance, and also spoke about the plans for the visit to Tatarstan — a meeting with the Government of the republic and ministers, including the Minister of Education, to discuss strengthening ties between universities.

Among the meeting participants were Egyptian students of KFU. Ahmed Osama Soliman Saber, a resident at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, spoke about his experience of studying and adapting, and Mahmoud Khaled Mohamed Hamed, a physics teacher at the KFU Cairo branch, spoke about adopting the experience of Kazan University for work in Egypt. The visit became another step in strengthening Russian-Egyptian relations in the scientific and educational sphere.
