In Dar es Salaam, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo, the opening of the ninth Karpinsky Geological Class took place – an international scientific and educational project of the Karpinsky Institute. The event was attended by representatives of the Geological Survey of Tanzania, leading universities, research centres and professional geological organisations of the country. This is already the fourth Karpinsky Class on the African continent. Karpinsky Classes are already operating in Ghana, Ethiopia and Mozambique, helping to develop and strengthen cooperation with scientific partners.

The new Karpinsky Class will become a permanent venue for lectures, workshops, exhibitions and educational events aimed at promoting Earth sciences and developing Russian-Tanzanian scientific cooperation.

The programme continued with a children's geology workshop, organised with the support of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture. Young participants discovered minerals and rocks, learned more about the structure of the Earth and the natural wealth of Tanzania.

The Karpinsky Geological Classes project is implemented as a long-term international educational initiative of the Karpinsky Institute, bringing together scientists, teachers, students and anyone interested in geology and modern Earth sciences. Today, such classes operate not only in Africa, but also in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Cuba. The signed cooperation agreement with RAFU will make it possible to further enhance engagement with African countries and implement new projects.

"The Karpinsky Geological Classes are no longer just an educational project. We are building a professional community of people who know the Russian geological school, understand our scientific approaches and are ready to develop cooperation with Russia. This is an investment in partnership for decades to come." – Pavel Khimchenko, Director General of the Karpinsky Institute
