Throughout the decade, the main official Russian holiday was solemnly celebrated in the Egyptian capital. Russia Day was traditionally marked at the branch of Kazan Federal University in Cairo. Every year in June, students of the KFU Cairo branch become acquainted with the history of modern Russia: quizzes on the Russian language, centuries-old history and cultural traditions of the country are held.
At the beginning of the solemn opening of the decade dedicated to Russia Day, the national anthems of the Russian Federation and the Arab Republic of Egypt were performed. After that, Ayman Al-Sayed Shafei, Executive Director of the KFU Cairo branch, delivered a welcoming speech.
"Russia and Egypt have long-standing friendly ties in various fields. It is important for us to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of cooperation in the field of higher education. To this end, the teaching staff not only pays great attention to strict compliance with all educational standards of Kazan University, but also gladly takes part in events dedicated to the country's cultural events. Our students want to study the culture of Russia and Tatarstan, and the Russian language. A group of the best students is preparing for a trip to Kazan to participate in the "RAFU Multidisciplinary Summer University" program. We are happy and proud to share with the multinational family of the peoples of the Russian Federation the pride for a great power," emphasized Ayman Al-Sayed Shafei in his speech.
In total, 2,000 students study at the Cairo branch of Kazan Federal University, and more than half of them actively participate in various cultural events held on campus. The management and teaching staff pay special attention to the harmonious development of students, their acquaintance with the history of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, and the strengthening of cultural, educational and friendly ties.
