The RAFU Summer Multidisciplinary University has begun its work at the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University. This year, ten specialists from Ghana, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, and the Republic of Congo arrived on the peninsula to participate in a unique educational program that combines two key areas: education and culture and history.
The course participants were students and young professionals from various fields, including medicine, microbiology, marketing, and tourism. During the week of September 21-29, they attended lectures, practical and simulation classes, including at the university's modern Accreditation and Simulation Center of the Medical Institute. Foreign guests were shown cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, how anesthetics work, and medical training methods using mannequins.
In addition to the educational program, students learned about the culture and history of Crimea, visiting the Museum of Rare Books, Vorontsov Palace, Yevpatoria, New Chersonesos, and military history museums in Sevastopol. These excursions helped participants gain a deeper understanding of the region's rich cultural heritage and appreciate the uniqueness of each city.
"African students have always studied here: at Simferopol State University, the Crimean Medical Institute, and the Agricultural Institute. They have always been welcome not only as guests, but as true friends. Our university made the right choice by becoming one of the founders of the Russian-African University Network consortium. I believe that the more representatives of different countries interact with each other, the greater the chances of forming a multipolar world," said Vladimir Kuryanov, acting rector of Crimean Federal University.
Gevorg Gabrielyan, head of the KFU's international affairs department, noted that the project is being carried out as part of the state policy of rapprochement between Russia and African countries, and that the geography of participants is expanding every year. "This year, we have representatives from four countries, but the program covers more than 20 Russian universities, and more than 40 students from 11 African countries are already studying at our university," he added.
One of the course participants, Ali Mahmoud Mohamed Elma, a resident orthopedic traumatologist from Egypt, shared his thoughts: "Russian education is one of the best in the world, and the RAFU program perfectly matches my professional and personal interests. I want to develop my skills in medicine and strengthen the friendship between Russia and Africa."
Peter Gerges, a tourism student from Egypt, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange: "Crimea is a unique place with a rich history and diverse nature. I want my compatriots to learn more about the beauty of southern Russia and Crimea."
Thus, the RAFU Summer Multidisciplinary University in Crimea not only provided high-quality knowledge, but also contributed to the development of intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of international ties.
