The Moscow Aviation Institute hosted a summer educational program entitled "Features of Aircraft Design" for students from African countries. 10 foreign students from the Moscow Aviation Institute, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia took part in the program.

The aim of the educational program is to develop basic aircraft design skills. During the course, participants will learn about all stages of development, using a full-scale model of a light glider as an example. Students will use both analytical calculation methods and modern automated design tools in their work. The program includes training in 3D modeling in CAD systems and working with CAE systems. At the end of the course, students will build a model glider.

Participants in the summer university were selected through an open competition among African students. The organizers deliberately did not limit themselves to engineering majors: the program included students from a wide variety of fields, from technical to humanities. This approach helps participants exchange experiences and ideas with each other.

As part of the school, tours of MAI laboratories were conducted, where foreigners could see how key aircraft systems are designed and how they are created.

At the end of the RAFU Summer Multidisciplinary University program at MAI, students were awarded certificates of successful completion.

The program was developed by Mikhail Yazykov, a graduate student at MAI's Department 903 "Advanced Materials and Technologies for Aerospace Applications" and an engineer at Roscosmos State Corporation, and Anton Sandin, a graduate of MAI's Department 101 "Design and Certification of Aviation Equipment" at MAI, design engineer at UZGA JSC Anton Sandin. They also conduct most of the classes and share their practical experience with participants.
