On August 23 in St. Petersburg State Forestry University named after S.M. Kirov the solemn awarding of certificates ended the Summer Multidisciplinary University on the program "Technologies for effective use of forest resources".
This is the first time the University has held such a Summer university. This opens new perspectives of international cooperation with African countries in the field of educational programs for short-term training within the framework of summer and winter schools.
African students learned about the diversity of forest and protected areas in both urban environments and in the Leningrad region.
They visited the Lindulovskaya Grove, the Lisinskiy Training and Experimental Forestry (a branch of SPbGLTU) and the forest museum of the Lisinskiy Forest College, the Central Park of Culture and Recreation on Yelagin Island as an example of a protected natural area in an urban environment, and also visited the coast of the Gulf of Finland, walking along the Komarovsky Coast eco-trail.
The participants highly appreciated the good organization, bright and rich program.

"It was the first time SPbFTU organized a summer university for African students. The experience turned out to be very successful. This is evidenced by the feedback from the participants. Such a school allows to familiarize African students not only with the forest resources of the Russian Federation, but also with their use. Many thanks to RAFU for the opportunity to organize such a summer university. We hope that it will become a good tradition at SPbFTU" - Svetlana Tereshchenko, Director of the International Center for Business and Education of St. Petersburg State Forestry University
